What are Digestive glands?

 It is very common question which comes in every one's mind how does food digest in our body and how many they are ?

Let's come to know ,

Digestive glands

Thes secrete digestive juices for the digestion of food .These are of four types- 

  1. Salivary gland 
   It produces salivary glands secrets salivary amylase (ptyalin) which converts the starch into maltose .These are of four types 

  • Parotid glands -largest gland present Just below the external ear.In these gland , virus causes mump disease.
  • Submaxillary gland-these  lie beneath the jaw angle  angles.
  • Sublingual gland -smallest gland . which lie beneath the tongue and opens at thr floor of buccal cavity.
  •  Zygomatic gland - these lie beneath eyes.

2 Gastric gland

it is present in the mucosa of the stomach .

These are of three types

  • Cardiac glands -secrets an alkaline mucus.
  • Pyloric glands -secrete an alkaline mucus .
  • Funding glands -each gland has four types of cells.
    • Peptic /zymogen cell -secrete pepsinogen for dry digestion of proteins.
    • Oxynitic gland -secrete HCL.
    • Goblet cells -secrete mucus
    • Argentaffins cells -secrete gastric hormone. 
Liver
  • It is the largest gland and consist of a large right lobe ,a small left and two small lobes called quadrate lobe and caudate lobe behind the main lobes .
  • On the right lo lo lies girl bladder which store bile juice juice secret by the liver.
  • Bile juice contain no enzyme, but  posess bile salt  and bile pigments.
  • Bile juice are steroid .
  • Liver also has some phagoctic cell in between hepatic cells called kuffers cells to engulf bacteria and foreign substances.
  • Liver is helpful in blood clotting, formation of glycogen, regulation of blood sugar as  reserved food , synthesis of vitamin A and storage of some minerals and vitamin.
  • Glycogen reverses are reserved inhuman body for obtaining energy.
  • Liver breaks fats to produce cholestrol.it helps in the determination of amino acid and amonium into urea.
4 Pancreas
  • It function both as an exocrine and endocrine glands.it serves amylase ,trypsin and chymotryphin, carboxypeptidase,lipase and nucleases in the digestive system .
  • It secretes pancreatic juice, which is helpful in digestion of both starch and protein.
